Sindhi Style Dal Kichdi | Patri Kichreen

    Sindhi Dal Kichdi

    Sindhi Dal Kichdi

Sindhi Dal KichdiSindhi Style Kichdi | Patri Kichreen

Rich and creamy Sindhi style kichdi with mild spices and ghee. Hearty and a filling breakfast. Apt for holiday brunch!

    Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 20 Mins | Total time: 30 Mins | Serves: 2

    Ingredients

    • ¾ Cup Rice
    • 3 Tbsp Moong Dahl
    • ¼ Cup Ghee
    • 1 tsp Peppercorns
    • Salt to taste
      Instructions

      1. Soak the dahl and rice for half an hour and keep it aside.
      2. Pressure cook the dahl and rice with twice the quantity water for 7-8 whistle; until they turn mushy and smashed.
      3. Once the pressure releases take of the lid and keep it on the stove again on medium flame.
      4. Mix it well with a ladle by adding some warm water if it is very dried up until it becomes smooth and creamy.
      5. Kichdi's consistency should not be thick. So keep adding water as and when required.
      6. Heat 1 tablespoon ghee on a pan over medium flame. Once it is hot add the peppercorns and let it sizzle. Pour this over the kichdi.
      7. Add some ghee on top of the kichdi in each serving bowl and then serve it.

      Notes

      1. The main thing to be considered in this is the consistency of the kichdi. It should be in a thick flowing consistency and not be either very thick or very runny. If it is very dry, add warm water.
