Hi Nisha, I have just come across your website. I am a north Indian living in the UK for most of my life but my early years were spent at my grandparents house in Kanpur until the age of 9. I have fond memories of the food cooked by my grandmothers. These local dishes are so peculiar to every family and when you are young you take them for granted. As you see the world, you become tempted by the offerings from far off lands and move away from your traditional foods. I have found my self exploring food and culture of every continent including those from other regions of India. My mum was a very good cook and after I lost her to cancer in 2012, I began question my own life purpose which led to a long journey exploring my spiritual side through books and food. After many years I am returning back to my roots. I hunger for the food of my childhood and long to sit in the kitchen of my grandma (where I was constantly told off for not practicing the disciple of "chua-chuth") and "willingly" cook with my mum!!
When I saw your website, I suddenly had a vision of something similar to champion the food of my region and my family, with a small mix of other world foods that I love. Your words endears you to me... they says so much about you. Its just about the recipes; your photos and text have a certain quality that shows the love you have for the food and culture, which gives your blog so much depth.
