There is a saying that "Opposites Attract". That is so true when it comes to food as well. Am a hard core South Indian, in terms of tradition, culture and attitude. But, when it comes to eating, I always prefer the North and particularly Punjabi Khana. It is so inviting and rich that the Indian food is always associated with the regional food of Punjab. Who does not know Paneer butter Masala or the Kadai chicken or Tandoori chicken and the Naan ?
Whenever I have guests over for lunch, I prefer to make these. It can never go wrong especially with the people who are not used to our taste palette. So while doing this Thali series, I made sure I included the Thali from Punjab. Here is my take on the regional Thali. There is no hard and fast rule. You can combine any two or three dishes and serve them with roti and rice. A little curd or raita and pickle should complement the entire meal!
The menu consists of
- Peas Pulav
- Roti
- Chole masala
- Dahl Palak
- Gaja ka halwa
- Papad
- Dahi (not in picture)
- Achaar (Pickle) (not in picture)
